Fuck Me

After the Opium War in 1840 AD, European style lawn parks with pruning and modern lawn sports fields such as football, tennis, golf, and horse racing were introduced in places such as Hong Kong and Shanghai. Lawn is suppose to serve our society (regardless of its biological or social attributes).
We received a lot of knowledge about "protecting the lawn" and "caring for the lawn" during the compulsory education stage - directly through education, we fundamentally changed several generations' understanding of the lawn, which directly overturned its original "serving society" attribute and instead transformed it into something that should be "cared for" or even "respected" above the public.
Thinking of contemporary Chinese art today, the development of contemporary Chinese art is almost completely independent of the history of art development. Since entering the field of modern art, countless artists in art history have begun to impact on public power, questioned the authority and even "sniffed" at art itself, Generations of people have been constantly trying to break down the "uniqueness" of artists and the boundaries between artists, works, and audiences.
However, all of this has been subverted due to the highly politicized nature of Chinese society in everything. Contemporary Chinese artists are gradually lost by power in the constant questioning of authority and then build solid barriers back towards it.
The expression form of "stolen" lawn from roadside green belt or park lawn in the exhibition hall is blessed by picture frames and lights. It is easy to see that these symbols (i.e. lawn, picture frames, spotlights) refer not only to the phenomenon of artists mentioned above, but also to a group of people in Chinese society shouting "Serve the People" Politicians who call themselves "public servants of the people" with slogans. These politicians who lost themselves in power and transformed from "public servants" to "slave owners" also constantly shine in this work.
